Welp

Hello! Long time no blog. I'm the worst aren't I? but in my defense I TOTALLY thought I did my RWC Final post but I didn't...anyway I'm hoping to get that up tomorrow, better late than never right? WHATEVER you're just here for the pictures anyway ;)And HOPEFULLY I'll get my 3rd annual Christmas post up as well.

I apologize for the lack of posts as previously mentioned there's a lot going on in my life and blogging has fallen by the wayside but I do appreciate the love and support you have all shown me, I have missed this blog and all of you as well, and I pray that 2012 will bring me less problems and more time for blogging!

See you on the flip side

Update

I just wanted to let you know that my blog list of 'Relevant Sources' has been updated.

Firstly I have added Manpilez to the list, a group of lovely ladies who do actual reporting with healthy amounts of squeeing. Did I mention they often snag interviews with fan favourite players??? If you don't already read Manpilez you should, you really really should! These ladies know what they're talking about AND are totally awesome! Check them out already!

Secondly I've added Go Hard Or Go Home which is a new blog written by a long time reader of Death of a Trend, Maddie. She's an Irish rugby fan so its safe to say there will be plenty of entries on the boys from the Emerald Isle! Please visit her and send some love :D

And now for no reason at all A JORDAN STAAL VIDEO

New Mascot/Announcement

This is Sansa Stark. She is our new mascot. She's 13 has her head in the clouds and has no clue how the real world works. She just wants to find her prince charming and have his babies. Oh honey, if you only knew (don't worry guys she learns)

Announcement:

I will be going away for a week. I will be leaving on Saturday (tomorrow) and returning the 27th. Frankie is also on vacation but she will be back in a few days to post some awesome 'worth your time' stuff. So you shan't be left high and dry.

I usually open up commenting when I go away but this time around I'm not going to, I've gotten a lot of spam lately so I'm erring on the side of caution. I will have access to my email account but I don't know when I'll get around to checking it, also I'm going on vacation so I don't want to spend my time on the computer :/ Don't worry though I will approve comments it will just take me a day or two rather than a few hours.

I'll see you all on the other side!

Exciting News!

Photobucket

As you've probably noticed my posting on Death of a Trend has waned as of late, and I feel really bad for leaving you all hanging. There's just a lot going on in my life right now personally, professionally, academically, that its hard for me to post regularly on here as much as I may want to. So here's where the exciting news part comes in, I want some of you to be contributors to this blog! I know I have a few dedicated readers, so maybe one or more of you may want to become a dedicated blogger as well (???)

Ideally I'd like to have two more people, I think any more than 4 contributors would get a bit crazy but I may have more if you're really into it. If you want to be a contributor review the rules and fill out this form:

Name:
Age:
Location:
Your Interests:
What You Would Blog About:
Why Do You Want to be a Contributor:

and email me at improv.suite.hotel[at]gmail.com

There are certain things that I don't really want to appear on this blog, since I will still be the owner and moderator but we can discuss that when you email me. Don't let that that discourage you though I'm pretty open about things, so don't worry about that!

I will accept applicants (LOL OMG it sounds so serious but its not don't worry) until July 19th, I think that gives people enough time to apply. So if you're interested please email me! I'm really excited about this actually! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far!

Party!

Photobucket

So I'm going away again, to la belle provence...AGAIN for about a week, and like last time I'm going to switch off the comment moderation*, which means I don't need to approve any thought you may want to share. So you can comment on any post old or new without going through me.

This post can be a discussion post if you so desire! Maybe I could get your thoughts on somethings. (???)

How you feel about athletes who use twitter?

I must say that twitter has definitely formed and authenticated my opinions of certain players:
-Tommy Bowe is exactly what I expected him to be.
-Rob Kearney wasn't at all what I expected him to be.
-Jordan Crane is exactly who we all expected him to be.
-Victor Matfield forces me to practice my limited Afrikaans.
-James Haskell is as deep as a paper plate and as dumb as rocks.
-Jamie Heaslip is way cooler than I ever imagined him to be.

How about you?

Now for the fun stuff, which I don't usually endorse but I'm on vacation so go nuts:

GOSSIP!!!

-Is anyone else totally grossed out at how public Ben Foden and Una Healy are with their relationship? I'm sure they're lovely, and I'm not throwing a shade at their relationship but it is a little ridiculous, non?

-Is anyone shocked with Tommy Bowe's taste in women? Oh you know what I'm talking about!

-Am I the only one that thinks Mike Philips is playing Duffy? She just seems really dumb naive and he up and left his girlfriend to be with her soooooo...Agreed, I don't have the highest opinion of him but neither does the guy at 0:43-1:14 just sayin...

Agree? Disagree? etc?

Hockey lovers;

-Do you think Rick Nash will ever come to Toronto? All fan girling aside I truly believe he will but it will be towards the end of his career :(

-The playoffs will soon be upon us who are you cheering for? I'm cheering for Washington again!

-Will Hamilton ever get their team? I say no because, its Hamilton...

-And of course the question that will define an age, Crosby or Ovechkin? I'm such a fence sitter I can't decide!

Or you could just talk about whatever you want. HOWEVER if anyone becomes particularly nasty, I'm deleting your comment(s)

Photobucket

If you're especially hungry for some Rugby news please visit Manpilez, a rugby blog run by some very lovely ladies. They have legitimate rugby posts unlike mine which consist of: BUT I DON'T LIKE HIS HAIR CUT!

Have a lovely week
xoxo

Nicole

*The reason I have comment moderation is because its so much easier to manage spam and crazies, I approve 98% of all comments I get. That 2%? is spam and/or essays on why ->enter oppressed nation here<- should be free.

WE HAVE A TUMBLR

Its still very much a work in progress. Hell I just snagged with URL 10 minutes ago. I decided to set up a tumblr account because everyone seems to be obsessed with it and I wanted the death of a trend URL to belong to us, and us alone! It features our mascot Lindsay Lohan and that's pretty much all there is at this point in time. Don't worry we'll still use blogger for the most part but tumblr is so much easier to use if we want to post just a picture or get in a quick update. So if you have a tumblr account please follow Death of a Trend http://deathofatrend.tumblr.com/

I was thinking about setting up a twitter account but what would we tweet about?"Tommy Bowe is hot" "AWJ has a nice bum" I don't know...

pssstt I saved the url anyway just in case @_DeathofaTrend

Announcement!

I've been at school for a month now, and I know what my weekly schedules will look like (more or less) so hopefully I'll be able to post more often. I know Death of a Trend has been a little slow these past few months but I wish to rectify that since both the hockey and rugby seasons have started, so at the very least we'll have picture posts.

I will try to get more analytical game posts up like back in 2007/2008 but I'm not making any promises on that front since those take A LOT of time believe it or not, not to mention the time it actually takes to watch the game(s)...which I apparently have very little time for, even hockey, and its Canada, they'll repeat a Leafs losing game 4 times in one day! But with the way my classes are going and grad school applications on the brain, I have nearly zero free time, and the free time I do have I'd rather spend with friends than in front of a television.

But enough of that, ROB KEARNEY:

SIDNEY CROSBY AND ZACH PARISE:

The cut of their blazers is all wrong! UGH, have you boys learned anything? Kris Russell can teach you a thing or two.

If you haven't noticed...

My posting has been sporadic. I have a lot going on, as I keep saying, so here's my official notice of hiatus. I just want to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you guys or Death of a Trend (NEVER) but don't expect anything major from me until the end of the month. I've added a discussion gadget on the side bar, just if you get bored or want to pine over hot dudes, safe from judgment! Talk to you all soon!

Sorry...

I apologize I haven't been able to post recently. I've just been sooooooo busy. I promise the Magners League/Heineken Cup and the boys on their summer tours, posts are on their way! I've had like NO time to do anything and even now I should be doing a paper... Well anyway, to wet our appetites here's our new desktop background:

Don't say I never give you nothing!

Welcome Kate!

Photobucket

To all 3 of my readers,

I'd like to introduce to you Kate, she will be blogging in my absence because this next month will be really busy for me with school and work, so I won't get to post all that much if at all. Plus she's from Ireland and from what I understand most of you are from that area anyway so my colloquialisms and slang may be confusing to you so now you'll actually understand what's going on and posts will arrive in a timely manner instead of 3 days late with jet lag! I don't have to ask you to be nice because I know you are all lovely and will welcome Kate with open arms!

Don't worry I'll still be around AKA reading/moderating. I check my email everyday but posts are time consuming and instead of forming a thesis I'll be trying to find a picture that shows off Tommy Bowe's thighs...heh. Anyway I'll be back to posting just in time for playoff season for the Heineken Cup and NHL YEY...although I don't think they call it playoff season in rugby...whatever, that's what I'm calling it!

Good luck to you Kate, I look forward to reading your posts! Thank so much for doing this ;)

Although comments are still moderated.

You guys bring the lulz

Its midnight and I'm not going to do a full and/or regular post but I had to let the interwebzzz know that some of you have typed in "Sidney Crosby died" and have ended up on my blog?!?!?!?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

For the record Sid's alive and kicking!

My second favourite is "Rick Nash Douche", not on this blog!

The things that come up on my analytics reports, you would not believe...maybe I should make a post: Top Ten Entrance Keywords. Y'all will be ROFL!

Apologies

Photobucket

Once again I will have to go on a bit of a hiatus. I have to study of an exam so Death of a Trend with be radio silent until I am done but don't worry I have some wonderfully annoying entries coming your way: England Rugby videos, Team Russia, and Tom Croft GIFs!!!!

Don't say I never do nothing for ya!

Love,
Nicole

Sorry...

Photobucket

To all 3 of my readers,

Sorry I have not been updating Death of a Trend as often as I used to. School happened and then the Holidays are happening and even though I've had time to post over at Dark Vaudeville (shameless plug), Death of a Trend posts require more time, if you can believe that.

I will definitely do at least one more post before Christmas, it will be your Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa present...and will be further evidence of my growing psychosis, heh, ANYWAY, the point is, it will totally be worth the wait! Hope you are all having a lovely holiday season!

Love,
Nicole

There is nothing wrong with your monitor. Do not attempt to adjust the picture

Um. So.

I recently activated that google analytics thing, that allows you to see how many people visit your site, where they come from, how they are referred here, which pages are most popular etc. I'm actually kind of shocked at how much traffic my blog(s) get. I was under the impression that like 4 people saw my blog(s) within a month, and the people that did see them only stayed for about 5 seconds. However it has been made clear that's not the case at all.

While I'm pleasantly surprised I'm also feeling a little self conscious because I kind of seem, bat shit crazy when I compose my posts(all in good fun right?), I mean the things I come up with; the insight I pretend to have; the perving I do, srsly what the hell?

Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that its all google.com's doing and not my 'wit' or the 'interesting' content I write about, or even my catchy name, no! What brings most of you to my blog is what I do on my blog: psychotic fan girling.

Top Ten Death of Trend Posts (and reasoning behind them):

10)
What: August 1st 2007 Archive
Why: Sidney Crosby and Vinny Lecavalier. Puck Bunnies!

9)
What: Because I'm Obsessed
Why: Danny Cipriani and Dominc Waldouck

8)
What: February 1st 2008 Archive
Why: Because of KOL fan girls obsession with Lily Aldridge, don't deny it!

7)
What: September 1st 2009 Archive
Why: I guess its because I started harping on KOL about OBTN and how it just wasn't a quality record. Do you share my sentiment?

6)

What: There goes my credit card bill
Why: My best guess is because more and more girls are finding out about Roxy's online store, something that is still relatively new and both a blessing and a curse for those of us who love Roxy's stuff

5)
What: June 1st 2008 Archive
Why: KOL. NHL. and fashion

4)
What: Death of a Trend
Why: Because people enter in 'Hummus' in the google search bar and are somehow brought to my blog.

3)
What: Nathan Followill and Liv Tyler
Why: Nathan's bulge brings all the girls to the yard. Damn, right its better than yours.

2)
What: May 1st 2008 Archive
Why: My crazy ramblings about skynet and the NHL...errrrr...moving on.

and the number one post is.........................

1)
What: I heart Caleb Followill MGMT
Why: Because you wishful thinking fan girls are waiting for the day when Caleb breaks up with his girlfriend and when you type 'Caleb Followoll breaks up with Lily Aldridge' into google, you actually get my crazy fan girl rant of me 'taking a break' from mine and Caleb's imaginary relationship. LMAO. Oh you guys.

So the reason why most of you visit Death of a Trend is because of Kings of Leon, which is kind of funny since I hardily ever listen to them anymore. I've moved on. Maybe you should too. So they can take the hint and make great records again.

ahem.

Restructuring

Photobucket

For a while now I've been feeling as if this blog is getting a little...ridiculous? I suppose it didn't help that I had no idea what the hell this blog was going to be about when I started it. Even when I did kind of figure it out, it really wasn't about anything in particular. I've just been having random rants about anything and everything.

So I've decided to make this an interest blog, which means I'll write about movies I've seen, music I like, food I eat, sports teams I support. One could argue that this is what my blog is currently about BUT I want to go in the direction of less psychotic overtones which, is how Death of a Trend currently stands.

At first It was funny (to me anyways) to have pretend boyfriends and pretend best friends but it has gotten a little out of control (in my opinion) and the last thing I want to do is appear to be delusional and pathetic firstly because I'm not, and secondly because this blog is definitely going in that direction.

So I'm removing the snark(for the most part) and the fan girl overtones that have taken over this blog. I had toyed with the idea of deleting all my posts but I decided against it because a)I worked hard on some of these posts, especially when it called for my limited html skills, and b) it will be like reading the diary you had when you were 12 years old, hilarious and ridiculous!

Death of a Trend will be my interest blog and Dark Vaudeville (which is underused) will be my personal blog.

xo,
Nicole

Lexicon Decepticon

About:

I have now edited this post twice since first writing it, which makes sense since when I started Death of a Trend I had no real plan as to what it was going to be about and even today I'm pretty much shooting in the dark, posting whatever I feel like posting.

Here's the DL, Kate, Frankie and I are the authors of this blog. We post about whatever our hearts or our moods desire you may enjoy it you may not but that's entirely up to you. Everything that is written on this blog is light-hearted, fun, with a sprinkling of fan girl, and a bit of snark if you're taking it too seriously, then you're doing it wrong.

When it comes to athletes, musicians, other famous people there is a line we won't cross, which includes any kind of information or documentation that is deemed private, like Jordan Staal's drunken facebook photos or Dany Heatley's phone number ('cause I would totally be selfish and keep that for myself), its just not cool and no matter how much we build them up for arena glory they're still real people.

In the words of Ja'mie King "Not to be a bitch or anything..."

Please don't harass us ~*Internet drama*~ is lame! No trolling or spam, its annoying! This is a blog-tatorship not a blog-ocracy. You're entitled to your opinion but we don't have to hear about it, so if you're being a douchewaffle don't be surprised if your comment isn't approved or your email replied to.

Also our opinions of people/places/things can and will change, try and keep up. If we do a 180 on a particular subject don't get mad its only the Internet.

Also typos happen, don't be a grammar Nazi, life's too short, relax, have a cup of tea.

Haters

I promised myself that if I were to get any hate mail I would post it, I haven't gotten any so far but if I do I will post it. So for any of you who feel the need to make ignorant, rude, and intelligible remarks (all haters seem to be illiterate from what I've seen), maybe you should save your hate for AIDS or Genocide or Pedophiles, instead of three young women having some harmless fun.

Commenting

All comments are screened, as in I approve them before they are posted. With the exception of a few passive aggressive, pretentious comments, you guys have been lovely and hilarious. I opened up commenting to everyone rather recently, so if you don't have a google account but feel compelled to make a remark about the length of Tom Croft's shorts, you now can.

Hope you all enjoy reading our posts we're having fun and you should have fun, and I really don't want to deal with this EVER:

and we do appreciate your comments. Yes I will accept 'the leafs suck' comments...because its true!

Girlfriends

I have noticed that many people have found this blog by typing in --->insert althete's name here<---'s girlfriend. Just so you all know I will NOT post about players girlfriends or boyfriends, if they are not famous or fame whores. If Tom Croft, or AWJ, or Sidney Crosby is dating a regular girl who's going to school, or has a career then I really don't feel comfortable posting about them. The only time I would ever post about girlfriends who are normal, regular girls, is if they attend an event, like an award's ceremony with their man, and even then don't expect snarky commentary, I just won't do it.

However if their significant other is famous or wants to be famous then don't be shocked if we do post about them but even then, unless she or he has done something horrendously bad, we will not post hateful or rude remarks. Let's reserve that for Chris Pronger and James Haskell, shall we?

Terminology-ator:

So you can decipher what I'm trying to say

Sears Catalogue - cheesy and awkward in front of the camera, see sears catalogue

My Delinquent Little Brother
- The Toronto Maple Leafs; I love the leafs because they're my home team but I kind of hate them because they suck, kind of like an unwanted little brother, you have to love them but if they weren't your brother, it'd be over!

Bitch, please! - a sarcastic remark usually said after a lengthly argument; the R rated version of 'yeah right'

Hotness
- someone or something that exudes desire and lust

Straight up
-honestly; truthfully; unquestionable

PUH-LEEZE - pronounced the same as please; an ironic statement to express ones disbelief towards a situation or person.

Methinks - meaning 'seems to me'

~*(insert word here)*~ - used to emphasize a word or concept, done in a mocking way.

Hot Mess - Someone or Something that is such a mess... the level of it, is off of the charts. It's past pathetic, past pitiful. It's to the point you almost have to walk away to keep from bustin a gut. Hot messes can exist in levels. source

Aha Shake Heartbreak - [1] Kings of Leon's best album to date; one of the best albums to date; [2] When you're at home and you want to be on the road and when you're on the road you want to be home; [3] great sadness, grief, or anguish

...additions, editions, to come.
