Its unofficially, official, Brian Burke is coming to Toronto y'all!
I'm not sure how I feel about this. The kind of hockey I enjoy is skilled hockey. A few fights here and there are fine with me but I'm not all about a team built up of enforcers who go after guys' heads and give dirty hits and that's what a Brian Burke team looks like.
Todd Bertuzzi anyone?
As of late, Fletch has been doing a decent job at managing the leafs. He's got rid of the dead weight that has weighed this franchise down for the past 8-10 years and has built a foundation of young hard working players and most importantly has kept the best player on the team and the hardest working player in the league, Vesa Toskala!
I just have this inkling that Burke is going to undo all of that and get rid of Toskala because we could probably get a lot for him...
But I swear if we get Chris Pronger, I'm moving to Montreal. I can stand not being in the playoffs for the past 3 seasons, hell I can even stand the 40 year Cup drought BUT I will not tolerate Chris 'I have the exact same haircut since 1990 oh and I'm a HUGE douche bag' Pronger!
Welcome to the family Uncle Brian! Hope you've got my delinquent little brother's probation officer on speed dial. He might just set your car on fire.

Nouvelle Vague
First and Foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!
yey first post of 2008!!!!
My New year's eve plans didn't go as planned BUT it was a hell of a lot better than other New Years I've had. My friend and I wanted to go downtown but when I got to her house we were trapped by her parents and her parent's friends (EW grown ups) so we sat in her den, had a few beers caught up ('cause I hadn't seen her since September), even though it was chill, it was good. Finally we realized that it was 10:30 and if we wanted to make it on time to the countdown, well then maybe it was high time we left.

When we got on the subway, these two baby faced drunk boys started talking to us, we were pretty gone too, so the conversation we had didn't make much sense (and I don't recall much of it). So we were on the corner of Dundas and um some other street, when the fireworks went off. We welcomed 2008 on a street corner getting drenched by the snow, and screamed 'Happy New Year' with all the other people who were late to the party, whatevs, we still had good times. We caught the cast of 'We will rock you' singing 'we are the champions' then came the crowd...

I'm like seriously hoping that no outbreak of undeadly-ness (i.e. zombies) infects Toronto, because holy shit, that was a WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE! and how the hell am I supposed to run for my life when a bajillion people are in my way...and that's not even the entire population of T.O. either, ugh! But my friend and I were smart we walked to a subway stop in the opposite direction and got seats...SCORE!
My night ended up at McDonald(gross I know, but what else is open at like 2am???) eating the greasiest 1/4 pounder EVER!
All in all it was a good night I [sort of] caught the countdown live, I got to spend time with a really good friend, AND I can already feel change in the air, which is kind of big since traditionally I've never understood the deal with New Years, it just was just "meh", but 2008, methinks you're going to be a good one!

Old Southern Style

I'm going to see the Kings of Leon on Tuesday and I'm extremely excited! Why? well because Caleb Followill(lead singer) is pretty much the man of my dreams: BEAUTIFUL, rich, socially challenged, a weirdo, fucked up, a bit of a perv, an alcoholic, and a rock star, honestly what more could a girl ask for.
HOWEVER unlike many bands that I love, and when I say love, I mean love; I am not staying behind to meet them. Why? because I really love KOL; their music is what plays in my dreams, its the music my children will grow up on (like they way my parents forced my to love Neil Young and Bob Dylan)! and I am not prepared for them to be assholes and to ruin the soundtrack to my life. I mean, yes it is about the music but if you're a bunch of pretentious assholes then I refuse to support you, thus, I've never bought a killer's album in my life nor will I ever (they aren't that great anyway...yea I went there!).
But really Kings of Leon really do make amazing music. Listening to them is like "fuck, my life will never be the same after this" but you know, in a good way. Today the state of music is backwards; back in the day all the great artists/musicians were popular everybody was listening to them or had at least heard of them but today all the greats are underground/indie artists, how that makes sense I don't know BUT the point of this is...Go buy Because of the Times
End scene
