Blackhawks are the 2010 Stanley Cup Champs

catch-up post #1
I'm totally happy for Johnathan Toews, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Patrick Sharp, and Cristobal Huet. The Blackhawks were definitely more deserving than The Flyers, who have some serious drama in the dressing room that they need to deal with.

Winning the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in sports bar none. And I'm not just saying that . 4 rounds of best of 7 games often with a day or two in-between games is exhausting, and that's not including OTs or practice, not to mention travelling to cities hours away. There are no breaks, no days off, you're constantly practising, working out, strategizing. The Hawks and The Flyers worked hard to get where they did, they worked harder and wanted it more than any other team in the league and for that I have to give them props, they may not have been my pick, or anyone else's for that matter but they didn't get to the final on sheer luck alone.

JT
is now the 2nd youngest captain to lead his team to Stanley Cup glory (guess who's the 1st?) and honestly there is no one player more deserving than Johnathan Toews, what a way to top off a fantastic year! And congrats to the city of Chicago on bringing home Lord Stanley, everyone in Toronto is seething now.

PS That piece of trash Patrick Kane is still rocking the mullet...is there anyway we can leave his name off of The Cup? Bueller?

Stanley Cup Finals, Y'all

Blake Lively because she's not Chris Pronger or Patrick Kane

Montreal ended their Cinderella run and San Jose choked...AGAIN! Surprised? See you on the golf course Joe Thornton!

So now its between Chicago and Philadelphia. This is pretty much Gary Bettemen's worst nightmare, there's no Crosby, there's no Ovechkin, I mean there's Towes and Briere but no bandwagon jumper cares about them.

If we're being honest, which we are, I don't really care about this Stanley Cup Final.

Sacre bleu!

I know, I know but Chris Pronger is there and that little sh-t Patrick Kane is there, its essentially the douche bag Olympics, why would I torture myself? Do I want to go to a Turkish prison or be thrown into a pit of snakes, I'd rather not do either, and I'd rather not want either team to win. Sorry.

Stanley Cup Playoffs, Conference Finals

Eastern Conference:

Montreal v Philadelphia

No one would have ever, EVER predicted this match up for the Eastern Conference finals not in 100 million years. Montreal has some serious voodoo going on, legends are being made every single game Halak, Suban, Camalleri, these are the names you'll hear 10, 15, 20 years from now, when hockey analyzers reference great players in tough times. However surprisingly great Montreal has become, Philadelphia didn't make it to the conference on shear luck either, even if Chris Pronger is on Philly, and that Oscar winner Dan Carcillo. Montreal needs to understand, this is not a team that's easy to beat, even if you're up by 3 games, playing game 4, 3rd period 7 minutes on the clock, Philly will make your life a living hell and they will make you pay for that victory.

Western Conference:

San Jose v Chicago

Well, well, well what do we have here? San Jose? In a conference final? O mon dieu! Will they choke? Will this be a 4 game sweep? Will Joe Thornton be on the golf course before this month is through? Or will they finally fulfill the long told prophecy and authenticate the massive talent they have on their team? I just want them to beat Chicago to teach that little sh-t Patrick Kane, that you may get away with beating up a defensless cab driver but the hockey gods will not forgive you for growing a mullet in lieu of the playoff bead, TRASH!

Stanley Cup Playoffs, Round 2

I'm not even going to bother doing predictions this time around, I'm a little heartbroken that the Caps have been eliminated actually no- I'm enraged and this was essentially my reaction on Wednesday:

and then I cried myself to sleep. Montreal was last in terms of points, in teams who made it to the post-season, and Washington was first...I just- I suppose I should be supporting Montreal because they're Canadian but Ovechkin, WAH!

Eastern Conference

Pittsburgh v Montreal

Halak has been SPECTACULAR but can he stop the Pens? Can he stop Sidney Crosby? Can he stop Evgeni Malkin? Pittsburgh is a deep team, will Montreal be ready for the 4 line assault? Well on paper that answer is no but on paper Washington should have beat Montreal and they didn't so...

Philadelphia v Boston

I always make the mistake of underestimating Philadelphia but Chris Pronger is on that team, ICK! Having said that Philly has a chance, not saying they're going to win, I'm just saying Boston better be ready.

Western Conference

San Jose v Detroit

Well they've already played their first game and San Jose won. But can I just say that Dany Heatley is the difference maker. Watching the Pittsburgh-Ottawa series you could really see that Ottawa was missing Heater like FOR SERIOUS I mean Alfredsson was injured and Jason Spezza peaked at 23 (he's now 26) so there really is no one else on that team. Detroit has Mike Babcock with his Jedi mind tricks, just saying...

Vancouver v Chicago

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Don't really care who wins but the Blackhawks coaching staff has decided to dress Dustin Byfuglien (his real name, I kid you not) and there's some bad blood between this team so I think its safe to say that this will probably happen again:

can't.wait.

What is this? I don't even-

Did y'all just see-

Did that really just happen?

Did Montreal actually beat the Washington Ovechkins? Eliminating them from the Stanley Cup playoffs?

WHAT THE HELL???

Next you're going to tell me that San Jose advanced to the next round.

Oh.

Should I even bother with my round 2 predictions, at this junction, what's the point?

Somewhere Sidney Crosby is giggling himself to sleep. Stanley Cup finals again? It just might happen.

Stanley Cup Playoffs: Round 1, Eastern Conference Predictions

I just got back from my first exam and now I'm posting about the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now that's dedication, the NHL should totally pay me for this! Anyway, playoffs start tomorrow and as of this weekend the stage has been set for the Western Conference, are you ready for it?

Washington v Montreal: Washington in 5

Please as if the Habs have any chance...

New Jersey v Philadelphia: New Jersey in 6

Philadelphia may have made it into the playoffs with 11:59 on the clock but this is a team that can grind out wins, HOWEVER New Jersey is a superior team, they're taking it!

Buffalo v Boston: Boston in 6

Boston were supposed to make it to the cup finals last year, it was their year, everything was going right for them...that is until Carolina came out of nowhere, making it to the conference finals...WHAT? Boston was so close last year, so close, it truly was heartbreaking when they were eliminated. Chara and the boys, they're out for blood, this time! Oh yeah and Buffalo will lose because Ryan Miller's haircut gives off bad chi!!!!

Ottawa v Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh in 6

My, my, my what do we have here? These two teams they have history. Remember? First round of the playoffs 2007, Pens versus the Sens, gripping, nail biting, edge of your seat...actually it was a clean sweep for the Sens, who made it all the way to the cup finals. Sidney Crosby was heartbroken, his wrist shot, his iron thighs, his hair gel just wasn't enough. It was heartbreak for the young Pittsburgh team. Fast forward a year, exact same senario EXCEPT the Pens beat the Sens in 5 games. Don't you remember the high drama that was the Ottawa season of 2007-2008??? Ray Emery and Brian McGrattan got into a fist fight at practice. Ray Emery went to rehab. Brian McGrattan went to rehab. Jason Spezza's hype wore off. Mike Fisher read the Bible. It was all very dramatic...that was such a good year for hockey. As usual I'm getting off point, which is: this series will be an interesting one!

PS Remember this glorious commercial? Well there's a sequel, unfortunately Max Talbot was the only one who came back for another appearance. Gonchar totally made it :(

Stanely Cup Playoffs: Round 1, Western Conference Predictions

STUDY BREAK!!!!!!!!

The Western Conference teams have officially cemented their playoff berths, so I'm going to do my predictions first for those teams. However before I do, I have to be honest, this season I haven't been watching all 4 sports networks, watching every hockey game that comes on. The last time that I've properly watched a hockey game was the Olympics. Yes that's right, I've been a bad hockey fan but in my defense I've had school till late at night and when I'm not at school till late at night I have work till late at night, so what's a girl to do? Really???

These predictions will be based on the skill of the players and how I think they as a cohesive unit will fare against the other cohesive unit of skilled NHL players.

San Jose v Colorado: Colorado in 5

Ok this is me being a jerk, but come on, its like clockwork with San Jose! They will choke! They're the best team during the regular season and biggest disappointment during the playoffs, why would I waste my time? Mark my words before they playoffs are through we'll see Joe Thornton cry, AGAIN! Moving on...

Chicago v Nashville: Chicago in 5

Still don't get why Nashville is in the Western Conference, geographically they're East but that's NHL expansion for you! ANYWAY Chicago is young and highly skilled, they made it all the way to the Conference finals last year, I think its clear to everyone they're winning this round!

Vancouver v Detroit: Vancouver in 7

Detroit knows how to win. They have a good system and have some of the best players in the NHL on their team. On the other hand, as we all saw with the Olympics, when Luongo is spectacular his team wins. But really, I just want Vancouver and Chicago to keep winning so they'll end up playing each other, and we'll have a repeat of this epicness:

Everyone was fighting...EVERYONE..and if memory serves me the coaches were also going at it. Please in the name of Sidney Crosby, let us have a repeat!

Phoenix v Los Angeles: Los Angeles in 6

Again this is me being a jerk. Phoenix needs to loose and in the midst of their failure realise that they should move their team to Hamilton and why not? If California can have two NHL teams why can't Ontario, CANADA, home of Lord Stanley himself, have three teams???
