This is It. Don't get Scared Now.

We have our final ladies and gentlemen! This is what we've been working up to. I'm really, really excited. A new champion will be crowned and another team's dream will be denied for another 4 years. This is why I love watching Remember the Titans over and over again. The elation. The heartbreak. The beer split on your carpet. Not much can compare to a sports final.

For our Bronze Final we have Australia vs Wales. Australia's sloppy game play broke like water against New Zealand (I'm making a reference here 10 points if you get it) so it comes to no surprise that they're not in the final. Still seething from South Africa's loss I'm throwing all my support behind Wales. They were unjustly denied a spot in the final, so let them take their frustrations out on the Wallabies.

The All Blacks is for lovers

For our World Cup Final we have France vs New Zealand and honestly it could go both ways, which I know is a total cop out but honestly I'm convinced that France has been holding back this whole time waiting for the most opportune time to unleash the best game they've ever played, and that could very well happen on Sunday. But on the other hand this is the All Blacks we're talking about, they have been exceptional this tournament, they're in their own backyard, the last time they won the World Cup they were playing at home, the stars are aligned, etc. etc. so who really knows. I don't know about you but I think watching this game will probably require the consumption of a lot of alcohol.

Semi-Finals, Its getting dangerous

We're at the semi-finals already. Can you believe it? I can't. It seems like just last week I stayed up late watching the opening ceremonies and the inaugural game between Tonga and New Zealand, oh how time flies.

With our Nothern Hemisphere match-up we have Wales vs France. Even though I thought Ireland would beat Wales I'm so happy that Wales has made it into the semis. They deserve to be here, and I am rooting for them 100%. Who will win? I actually have no clue and don't ask me to make a prediction because we all know how good I am at that.

The Southern Hemisphere match-up will be electric, no doubt, with Australia vs New Zealand, I mean how could this not be a good rugby match. Yes I'm still bitter about the Springboks losing to Australia so with that in mind and my fetish crush on Jerome Kaino's chin I'm rooting for the All Blacks. Although if Australia wants to win they cannot play the crap game they played against the bokks, I mean what the hell was that? The Kiwi's will not put up with that just sayin'

What is going on?

Gavin Henson got drunk one night claimed he was the best rugby player in the world (uh what?) and got into a fight with one of his teammates, now he's been suspended for a week by Toulon, the Welsh Rugby Union wants a chat, and now his pro career hangs in the balance.

*sigh*

How big is Henson's ego, I mean seriously? All athletes have huge egos, you kind of have to, to excel at the professional level of any sport; you have to believe in yourself, you have to believe you're the best. So Henson must be a special kind of asshole if even his own team, his club, and the WRU, can't stand him. Don't get me wrong, Henson is talented but when your talent can no longer excuse your behaviour in an industry of egomaniacs, you've got a problem.

I posted on Death of a Trend's Tumblr about Mike Phillips' arrogance, and Scott Johnson said something which totally applies to the Henson situation: “It’s the modern player. Sadly that’s the way the sport is going."

Well that sucks.

That's Rough

This photo pretty much says it all.

On Friday Wales tied with Fiji in a game the should have won, and then Ryan Jones was stripped of his captaincy...I'm not sure that was the right move. It definitely throws Jones under the bus, which I'm never a fan of. If it's a team sport, then its never one person's fault. Sure Jones made some mistakes, and while its not mine or the supporter's decision whether to keep him as captain or not, I think the coaching staff really should have waited longer than 24 hours to publicly announce his demotion. In my 18 or so years of watching and understanding sports, making decisions when an organization and fans are high on emotions is never a good idea. PLEASE the Leafs could write a book about the subject!

On a brighter note congratulations to Fiji for beating a side like Wales, I won't lie, I do love it when I underdog proves everyone wrong.

Wales Lost but Alun Wyn Jones is Still a Babe

Wales played Australia this past weekend and uh they lost..which was no surprise to me (sorry Welsh fans) but one thing we can all enjoy is the visual representation of AWJ's beautiful singing voice!

Them be fighting words!

I had previously posted about Wales' new kit and purposely left out the whole Gavin Henson controversy, because why? But now that the hottest dad on the block gave a thinly veiled statement on Henson being included in the campaign, I have to comment on it, its like high school drama. The best!

Let me preface this, Jamie Roberts' frustration is completely sound. Welsh rugby has enough active stars to propel a campaign, Ryan Jones was there, Martyn Williams, AWJ, James Hook, the other Jones, Shane Williams, all players who are playing for their clubs and for Wales, not going on reality television shows and breaking up with their popstar (?) girlfriend. Henson hasn't played in 18 months, why was he invited? Way to kick the entire Welsh squad in the face!

Hot Dad said:

“Without saying anything too controversial, it’s an interesting choice to say the least. Obviously his profile is sky-high at the moment with his dancing thing and the union have decided to use that.

Whether Gavin Henson returns to rugby remains to be seen. Whatever he decides, Welsh rugby is not just about him. It’s about the team and individuals working hard within that team.

The boys have worked very hard over the last couple of years since he hasn’t been here, so it’s an interesting decision to use that picture. He is a talented player, but if he does come back to play he is going to have to earn his place in the Wales team like any other player. He is no different to any one else in that respect. He will have to train hard and perform well for his club like any of us have to do to earn our right to wear the Welsh shirt. He has got other matters on his hands now with his dancing competition.

Asked whether he would be following Henson’s progress in the TV show, Roberts responded: “I don’t watch it. I’ve got better things to do.

Wales Online

OH SNAP!

That was probably the best verbal non-beatdown beatdown I've read in a long time! He gave it to Henson in such a round about way and yet you can definitely detect the irritation in his words. He got in the jabs of appearing on Strictly Come Dancing (American version = Dancing with the Stars), criticized the Union in not so many words for choosing Henson to be a part of this new campaign, and essentially said that they don't need him, without forgetting to mention Henson's talent to cushion his criticisms. Amazing!

Jamie Roberts, he knows what he's doing!

Isn't Underarmour Supposed to be Skin Tight?

And why is AWJ the only one with his shirt tucked in? Come on! Work with me here Al!

Its okay Shane, I know what its like to ALWAYS be the shortest person in your group of friends. I see your 5'7 and raise you 5'2. Oh the trials of short people...

I see Jamie Roberts is still going for the hottest dad on the block award

How precious

LOL this picture after the previous two

PS I finally saw The Restaurant with Tommy Bowe, what a babe! Was giggling to myself the whole time. But no matter how much I love the Bowe his bruschetta was sketchy, sorry :S

PPS I'm going to Montreal for a few days to throw myself at some French boys, so I've turned the comment moderation off because I won't have access to a computer, however if I come back to find haters have infiltrated our haven of hot boys and fan girling, then they will be blocked. Can't say I didn't warn you...

Magners League Finals

catch-up post #3

Sorry for the watermarks, I tried to find them without the tags but alas I could not, and they're not that bad, it'll do.

FYI: The Ospreys beat Leinster

RUDE

Tommy Bowe scores a try. The Pope's Catholic.

I love photos like these, its Where's Waldo books!

Do you remember Where's Waldo? Remember how when your class went to the library, you had race to the section where the Waldo books were because, your classmates were selfish little snots and if they got the book before you they kept it for the ENTIRE library hour and didn't share? Then you'd be stuck reading Curious George for the 43rd time. UGH. Waldo and the pop up books were always the first to go. Children are such brats!

Nikki Walker is a pro at the "Presidential walk across the tarmac wave"

What was he growing on his upper lip?

This has nothing to do with rugby by Sonny Parker strikes me as that old guy at the club who's like 35, hitting on girls 10-15 years younger than him, desperately clinging to his youth, when really why aren't you home diversifying your portfolio or contributing to your RRSP? I only say this because he legitimately hangs out with Cai Griffiths who's 24 and has terrible grammar. I mean I don't know anything about his personal life but, he just seems the type. Apologies if you're not that lame old guy at the club, Parker.

We get a thumbs up from AWJ, this makes it all worth it!

A Little Eye Candy To Get Us Through The Week

It was our first long weekend of the summer, I had a girls weekend and it was so much fun, we went to the beach (I got burned), we ate delicious food, got drunk, got hit on by Pub managers (he was kind of hot actually), watched fireworks, bought things we couldn't afford, and then I came home today, and realized my mini vacation was over. I'm still pretty bummed so in order to cheer me up here are some photos from our favourite Ospreys' boyfriends Alun Wyn Jones and Tommy Bowe and some Jamie Roberts thrown in for good measure (sorry for the watermarks in advance)

I was getting a little concerned with AWJ (he voluntarily grew an unruly beard a while back) but these photos prove, I have nothing to fear

One of the best things about AWJ is that he rocks his receding hair line, look at this hair cut it works, it totally works! Who is his barber? Gold medal for that dude!

AWJ at his best, classic furrowing of the brow

Look how good his hair cut is! I can't get over it! Some people should take notes!

Ew Mike Phillips. LOL AWJ is wearing loafers, why am I amused by that?

Tommy Bowe and AWJ to double your pleasure. Oh Johnathan Thomas was there too

Here's Jamie Roberts who has seemed to have aged about 10 years since the last time we checked on him...in his manner anyway

Tommy Bowe has no idea what to do and his bow tie is crooked...would we want him any other way? Did you see him on the late late show Irish friends? Took a jab at Carnie, I hear. TELL ME EVERYTHING

Jamie Roberts going for the hottest dad on the block

...oh you know of what I speak! Don't you recall being 13-15, the years when you were a 'babysitter' and there was always that dad whose little brats you took care of and you were totally crushing on him like a fan girl at a backstreet boy concert, cause he was so cute~ and didn't talk to your boobs like boys your own age. That is until you realized that even though he was good looking in a rather generic way, he was totally lame, a complete L 7, and a purveyor of dad jokes which ruined his handsomeness. Well I think I just turned 16. Jamie, are we breaking up?
