The pens, as of this moment, are out of the playoffs...I think it has a lot to do with coaching, I've said it before, so I won't say it again. The pens got to the finals all on their own...and by their own I mean the players, ONLY the players. It was the players hard work and determination that got them there, it was kind of obvious that the coaching staff were way out of their league. They would get worked up over stupidity, while Babcock and the Red Wings were cool as cucumbers.
Keeping in mind that they lost several key members of the team over the off season; key members that had been on the team for a very long time and had developed with the other players, so to loose them was to loose integral parts of a machine, parts that if went missing, well, the machine just wouldn't work all that well.
Trades happen all the time and its up to the coaching staff to asses what they have and rework things and come up with a strategy that will produce results but that's not what happened. Instead they've done nothing, and have continued on with this flimsy game plan that's clearly not working!
Proof: Pittsburgh currently sits in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, currently out of the playoffs.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
